3. Find page 20 in the Brushstrokes packet and explain the use of participles
4. Share successful brush strokes from the Chris Van Allsburg images.
Work Period:
5. Locate your narrative simulation essay handed back last week.
- Skim through and find a moment of action and HIGHLIGHT it.
- Consider which of the three brushstrokes would entertain and delight a reader.
- Apply a brushstroke to your essay as a hook or detail.

6. Share brushstrokes in your new grouping.
7. Class Notebook: Discuss and Review Apostrophes. Point out the questions in the Simulation that relied on apostrophe knowledge.
- What are the two rules for apostrophes?
- What to do with "it's"?
- What to do with a plural possessive?
8. With a new color of highlighter, circle all of the apostrophes and "-s endings" in your narrative essay.
