Learning Objectives:

Opening:
1. Turn in Reading Log #24

2. Pass out Article of the Week 2.6, number paragraphs and stanzas, and write a prediction for both the passage and the poem.

3. Pass out new reading Log (#25 + Bonus Week)

Work Period:
4. Return to your Brush Strokes Packet in your Writer's Folder.  (Be sure your have placed both your Narrative and your Expository essays from the Simulation into this folder.

5. Review pages 15-17 so you remember the elements of this brushstroke.

6. Follow the directions on page 18, including reading the "Tip".  The "Core Sentence" for the image should be written on page 19.

7. Complete Description 2 and Description 3.

8. When you are done with page 19, follow the instructions on page 20, then ask for an image from Mr. Washington.  He will provide you with an image from Chris Van Allsburg, the author of "Polar Express" and "Jumanji".
  • Please handle the image with care, it is irreplaceable.
  • Use the image provided to you to write a complete brush stroke using some, or all, of the following brushstrokes:
    • Participles
    • Absolutes
    • Appositives
9. Return the Allsburg image when you at the end of the period.  



Closing:
10. For homework, read through the "Adjectives Out-of-Order" description and definition on page 21.



  • Mark the text for important information.
  • Define the brush stroke at the top of the page next to the heading.
