Opening:
1. Scavenger Hunt: Move around and find someone to sign off on your Comma Examples.  
They may only sign off if they: 
   a. are sure you know the rule
   b. help you edit your sentence so it is correctly demonstrating the rule

2. Once you have all five mastered, share your "Action Sports Story" with the rest of the class.

Work Period:
3. Remember, what makes a great narrative?

4. Why are the models read aloud a "perfect" STAAR-style narrative?

5. Find your RUBRIC for Narrative essays.

6. Examine the "devolved" essay.  

  • Why does each deserve what it received?
  • What "went missing" in each devolved version of the perfect STAAR style essay?

Closing:
7. Examine the Two STAAR style Narrative Writing prompts.

  • "Unpack" each Read-Think-Write prompt
  • Brainstorm possible incidents that would help you appropriately respond to the prompt
