Opening:

1. Collaborate with those near you and share your "working thesis," or controlling idea.

2. Discuss what direction you would take your essay and create a flow map of the ideas you would present to help you explain your opinion.

#4: We use commas when we are speaking to someone and use their name.

Complete the "Optional Assignment" on page 28.  Use the action verbs provided and write a couple paragraphs describing a sporting event.  Use 15-20 action verbs.

Consider:

  • Go to YouTube and search a favorite player or team
  • Go to ESPN, etc. and look up "plays of the day" or highlights
  • Go to spurs.com and see the latest highlights.



Watch a few minutes of clip over and over, then write a vivid couple of paragraphs describing the actions of your favorite player or players.
