  • What hooked you into wanting to read/hear more?
4. Who has a novel they are reading that has an effective lead?  
  • Share a few…
5. Examine the Leads on page 34.

6. Look back through each of the narratives we've read in the last few weeks, then fill out the graphic organizer on page 35

Closing:

7. Choose a draft from your journal and rewrite the opening using one or more of the lead techniques.  Write your lead on page 35, at the bottom.
