Opening:

1. Review ideas on page 76.  What explanations are there for these natural elements?

2. Re-Examine the Embedded Assessment
  • Partner Needed
  • 1st Draft due by the end of the period Tuesday
    • 3-4 Illustrations that enhance the reader's understanding of symbols in your story
    • 2-3 pages written
  • Peer Review Wednesday
  • Final Draft due Thursday
Work Period:

3.  With your partner, brainstorm natural phenomena that could be in your story (2-3) and work through the ways that it could tie into plot and characters, as well as a choice and lesson

4. Work through the Beginning, Middle and End of your short story
  • Introduction: Characters and Setting
  • Turning Point: Introduce the Conflict
  • Rising Action: What is the main action in the story?
  • Crisis Point: What is the most exciting moment in the story?  How does it act as a climax that leads to the Resolution?  
  • Falling Actioin/Resolution: How will the story end so that the reader can't miss your lesson?
5. What key objects, characters and actions can you illustrate tonight?

6. Check in with Mr. Busse on your progress toward a draft.  Who will write, who will illustrate?
