Opening:
1. Collection Time:
  • Independent Reding Log 
  • Class Notebooks
  • Reader's Notebook (Notes on Reading; Annotated Bibliography)
  • Expository Essay for Extra Credit ("Helping yourself first or others...)
2. Hand back: 
  • Article (Poem) of the Week 2.7

Extra Credit: Due Wednesday - - Write the essay about a teacher! (Will replace TWO low assignment grades, or one assessment grade.)

Work Period:

3. Stand up - get a clipboard

4. Visit the poem to the RIGHT of the one you read Friday.
  • Copy the first line of the narrative (5-8 words)
    • Determine how the poem is organized (What is the flow of ideas)
    • How does the author use:
      • Imagery?
      • Dialogue?
      • Thoughts and Feelings?
    • Why is it an "Advanced" Essay, earning a Score 4?
5. Visit a total of THREE Poems and take notes.j

6. Drift to your favorite.  Discuss your notes with the others who meet at this narrative and determine why it is your favorite.

7. Class Discussion: What was the most common thinking map that you saw underneath the narratives?

8. Take 15 minutes to plan for your narrative about a teacher. 
  • Use the backside of the page I provided.
Closing:
9. Write a hook for your essay, using appositives, absolutes, participles, adjectives out of order and/or action verbs.
