Opening:
1. In your BRUSH STROKES Packet, read through the directions for Activity 3 on page 18.

  • Look through the Tip - what insight does this provide?
  • Why would the following sentence also be less effective, and even confusing:
    • The man waited for the doctor, sweating, twitching, aching.
2. Complete the first two descriptions on page 19 (Gorilla and Baby)
  • One long participial phrase
  • Series of Three short participles
3. Share favorites aloud.


Work Period:
4. Get back together with your writing partner and work on a HOOK for your "hard work = success" essay.

5. Share on a sentence strip.

6. Craft a conclusion to your essay:

  • What did you say?
  • What does it mean?
  • Why does it matter? (Link)
