A. Turn in Independent Reading "Notes on Reading"

Opening:
1. In your Journal, respond to the following prompt:

  • If you were to "Ditch" school, what do you think would be the consequences and lessons learned? 
2. Review: What makes an effective personal narrative?


Work Period:

3. Shared Reading: Mark the "Beginning", the "Middle" and the "End"

4. Respond to the questions in the margins after reading each chunk.

5. Brainstorm "Tone" words

  • "One Hundred Bucks of Happy"
  • "Ditching"
6. In your journal, write to the following prompt:
  • imagine you are the narrator of "Ditching".  Write an effective reflection that explains what he learns from his ditching experience
7. Share in small/large group
