Learning Objectives:

  • Unpack an Embedded Assessment for key knowledge and skills
  • identify choices made daily
  • brainstorm and categorize ideas
  • draft a response about a significant choice
Opening:
1. Score and Review CBA
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?
    • Review TEKS tested
    • Create a summary of strengths and weaknesses
  • Attach summary to Reading test and place in working folder

2. Share your Working Folder cover in your small groups.
  • Categorize the choices:
    • Which choices have YOU made?
    • Which choices have been made FOR you?

Work Period:

3. Read "You" aloud on page 8.

4. Brainstorm the kinds of choices you make everyday (on a normal day) in your journal.
  • What "clusters" exist?  
    • Transfer cluster categories to page 8, then add small spokes off to the side of each category.

Closing:

5. Respond to the quickwrite in your journal.

6. Share response with a partner.
