- How does the way I see myself compare to how others see me?
- Why is expository writing a good way to explain myself?
- How do I ensure that pronouns agree in my writing? Why is it important?
Please have your Independent Reading on your desk/table so that I can review it throughout the class period.
Opening:
1. Quick Review of Language and Writers Craft: Verb Tenses
- consistent vs. inconsistent verb tense
- A. She opened up the window and threw out the trash.
- B. The trash floats down and scattered among the daisies.
- C. All her neighbors looked up and their mouths dropped wide open in astonishment.
- Which are consistent, and which need a minor edit?
2. Return to you Class Notebook (Homework)
Write a name(s) that represent who you are to others and who you are to yourself.
What does the term "Reflection" mean? Why is it important when it comes to learning? To being around others?
- 3/22 Mini Circle Map: What words and phrases are synonymous with "reflection"?
3. Class Notebook: 3/21: Venn on Me (w/ 2 paragraphs)
Again, Reflect on yourself and the details that determine who you are to yourself, as well as who you are to others.
- I will model how to determine the most important details about myself.
In my Venn - I need to determine what reflections I hold about myself that others also hold about me.
4. Now you...create a Venn on yourself.
5. What are the most significant characteristics that you hold about yourself? What is most important about how others see you?
6. Finally, write two expository paragraphs about Internal and External Reflections. While you are writing, I will come around and check your Independent Reading.
Be sure to:
- Include a topic sentence that states the main idea of your paragraph
- Provide supporting details and examples from your Venn Diagram
- Include commentary that explains what the details show about who you are.
Closing:
7. Grammar Mini-Lesson - Pronouns and Pronoun Agreement
- Subjective
- Objective
- Intensive
- Reflective
8. Complete a revision of your paragraphs, making sure that your pronouns are in agreement.
